Phenzwaan has been nominated for this year's Poet of the Year Award. ISP Chairman, Board of Trustees - Steve Michaels says, "It was not hard at all choosing him as one of this year's nominees. His talent and dedication to poetry made him an obvious choice". This year has special meaning because the International Society of Poets is celebrating twenty years of poetry in Las Vegas, Nevada, July 20-23, 2006 for the 20th Anniversary International Society of Poets Convention and Symposium. "This is set to be the biggest poetry celebration of the decade". As a nominee for this year's Poet of the Year award, Phenzwaan will be presented with a newly designed, imported lead crystal trophy honoring his outstanding achievements in poetry. Ruben Studdard, winner of the hit Fox TV show American Idol, will be there to share his experiences and to announce the Grand Prize winner of this year's Poet of the Year award. Also, performing at this year's event is Grammy Award winner and star of a hit TV variety show, Tony Orlando. Our host hotel, the historic Riviera Hotel and Casino, located on the famed Las Vegas Strip, also marked a huge milestone; they are celebrating their 50th anniversary.

Phenzwaan's 'If Poetry Is A Woman' has been certified to automatically be entered into the final competition of the International Open Poetry Contest held in March 2006. Phenzwaan attends Mahogany: Jay Dee Tribute. The Definitive Sunday chillout took a break from it's usual selection to pay tribute to Jay Dee, who tragically passed away on Friday 10th February due to complications from lupus. Various DJs joined the Amplified team to play a musical tribute to one of hip-hop's leading producers. He was responsible for many memorable releases from artists such as, Slum Village, A Tribe Called Quest, De la Soul, Common, Erykah Badu and Pharcyde to name but a few. Also celebrated was British soul star Lynden David Hall who died after a two year battle with the rare cancer Hodgkins Lymphoma on February 14th.
